A native of Italy, love brought restaurateur and community supporter Marco Morosini to Alabama. In addition to owning and operating the Forest Park favorite Silvertron Cafe, Marco is a driving force behind the summer series Movies at Avondale Park. Here he shares his thoughts on his restaurant and the neighborhood.

What brought you to Birmingham?

My wife. She grew up over here (Bluff Park)… What we don’t do to keep the wife happy!!  🙂

What made you want to re-open Silvertron Cafe?

The neighborhood that it is in. It’s a warm, friendly, supportive area. I could not pass on this opportunity.

What are your favorite items on the Silvertron menu?

I do not think I have one — it depends on how hungry, what I am in the mood for. I think that is one of the things that I am enjoying the most about this restaurant, the variety of food available.

What do you like most about your Forest Park location?

Beside the description above, how close, yet far enough, it is to Downtown.

What advice would you give to people new to the neighborhood?

Make sure to say “hello” to your neighbors — they are going to say “hi” back.

Silvertron Cafe is open seven days per week for lunch and dinner as well as brunch on Sundays. The restaurant is known for specials like Monday Night Pasta and Tex Mex Tuesday.
