Reconnect With an Old Hobby
You might not have had the time before, but you sure have it now. So use it to reconnect with an old hobby! Whether it be container gardening, playing an instrument or writing poetry, a hobby will help you pass the time and relax. Even during social distancing, your hobby will give you time to enjoy the things you like without worrying about a time stamp.
Cleaning may not normally sound like much fun, but it’s an excellent way to pass time during self-isolation and social distancing. If you can get your hands on some cleaning products, then clean out your bathroom and kitchen. The CDC notes that keeping surfaces clean is one way to prevent the spread of coronavirus. And while you’re at it, why not make some more space for a summer wardrobe by clearing out old clothes and shoes? Cleaning can be therapeutic at a time like this.
Being outside is great for your immune system, which you’ll need in the next few weeks. Try getting outdoors and taking a nature walk or going for a jog. With the playlist we’re sure you created during the first day of quarantine, you’re already halfway to being athletic. Even if it’s as simple as walking your dog, being outside will be good for your physical and mental wellbeing. Just remember that the rules of social distancing apply outdoors, too!
While in quarantine, there’s nothing better to do than practice self-care. Meditate, do yoga, do a face-mask, make your favorite dessert. It’s more important than ever to take care of yourself right now. So enjoy a long shower or dance around to your favorite playlist.
Learn a New Recipe
Everybody is hungry during quarantine, so this may be the perfect time to dig out those old cookbooks and try cooking with your newfound free time. Learning a new recipe is the perfect way to kill time while still being productive. Can’t find all the ingredients? You can always use substitutes! Use your imagination and your resourcefulness. You might even find a new family favorite with this technique!
