Rocky Ridge is not just a main thoroughfare. In fact, it offers some of Vestavia Hills’ best options to start and and end a week.

Twisted Root Burger Co. has migrated east, and Vestavia Hills is its first stop. The Texas franchise is right off of Rocky Ridge Road and boasts a menu of traditional (the All American) and head-turning (Kale pesto? Ostrich boar? Emu?) burger options. The vegetarians and vegans amongst us need not worry either, because Twisted Root Burger Co. offers a brown rice and quinoa veggie burger or a number of “healthy stuff” salads. Though, indulging is easy when a Peanut Butter & Brownie custard shake or vanilla root beer float is on the menu. Its outdoor patio makes it a nice addition to the area for relaxing on a weekend afternoon or evening. Plus, there’s a pickle bar. As in, you go up to the bar and choose-your-own-pickles. Crazy.

Andy’s Markets are a stone’s throw away from each other. Up the street, the farmer’s market carries local and hand-selected produce fresh everyday. And just down the road, Creekside Nursery houses every tool or flower necessary for the garden. The plethora of Christmas trees in winter makes Andy’s a quick and easy option for holiday buying.

McCallum Park might be the place for the perfect Sunday afternoon stroll with Little Shades Creek idly floating by. Is it unlikely that such a magical park be tucked off of a main road? Not so with McCallum’s numerous trails extending to an other-worldy covering making it easy to get swept away. The addition of pavilions make it a nice option for a little one’s birthday party as well.
