Green space abounds in Birmingham, and there’s no better way to enjoy our abundant natural resources than living within walking distance of a park. Spring and summer are the perfect seasons for taking up residence near some of the best Birmingham parks.

When touring Birmingham’s hottest neighborhood, it’s easy to take in the popular Birmingham restaurants and nightlife hotspots in Avondale like Fancys on Fifth and Avondale Brewing Company, among so many others. But, while this neighborhood is known for its urban attractions, let’s not neglect the beautiful Avondale Park. With plenty of greenery, ball fields, an amphitheater and duck pond, Avondale Park is a great spot for nature-lovers in addition to hosting events throughout the year like an art fair, car show and movies in the park. Choose a new one-bedroom unit within proximity to it all.

As Birmingham’s newest and often most-talked-about park, Railroad Park is a clear crowd-favorite. With fitness opportunities from bootcamp to yoga and year-round events that include summer symphony performances, there’s always something to see, do and enjoy at this expansive green space. Residents of Birmingham Parkside overlook the park and are never left out of the action.

With 14 miles of hiking trails, a zip line adventure and a herd of 150 goats maintaining the grounds,Red Mountain Park has a little bit of something for everyone. (In our humble opinion, there are two kinds of people: those that love baby goats and liars.) Combine the luxury living at the Ashby at Ross Bridge with the breathtaking natural terrain of nearby Red Mountain Park, and you’ve got yourself a winner.

Station 121

A modern urban style apartment complex in downtown Birmingham.

Speaking of Railroad Park, the much-anticipated and long-awaited park extension, Rotary Trail, opens April 6. The four-block-long walking space is a dream come true for many residents of the Magic City. Residents of Station 121 will have the best view of and easiest access to Rotary Trail.

Do Dah Day is just one of the legendary Birmingham events that happens at Highland Park every year. Dog-lovers can be found at this downtown park year-round in addition to young professionals that just love the vibe that comes with this historic Birmingham area. When you live at Pawnee Square, it’s a short walk to Highland Park and the many other attractions — like the Virginia Samford Theatre and Bottega Restaurant — that make this neighborhood a stand-out.
